Simple, Straightforward Opinions on Camcorders

We at Camcorder HQ are proud to announce the debut of our new 'HQ Grades,' which we think will help make researching, selecting, and buying a digital camcorder easier than ever. Rather than using imprecise and overused star ratings or confusing readers with some high-concept yet inscrutable scale, we decided that the best way to communicate the value and quality of a camcorder would be to use something everybody can easily identify and recognize: letter grades.

If you look at any of our products, you'll see that each camcorder is now accompanied by a letter grade, A+ through F. These letter grades are the product of a special calculation that factors in the age of a product, the variety and number of buying options, the amount of "buzz" (that is, the overall consumer interest), and the opinions of people who have actually owned and used the camcorder.

If you hover your mouse over the grade stamp, a helpful bubble will appear, explaining why the camcorder has been given its grade. Simple, straightforward "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" (or a mixed, yellow up/down icon for an uncertain or split decision) icons will let you know immediately whether or not this camcorder is worth your time and money.

Our grades are continuously updated, based on a wealth of information that we monitor carefully. You can be guaranteed that the grades you see when you come to Camcorder HQ are an accurate representation of what's hot in camcorders (and what's not) at that very moment. So if you've got a 3 year old camcorder that you love, don't be upset that we've given it a C or a D... it may have been the best camcorder way back when, but right now your money is most likely best spent on something newer. For those of you who want the best, the latest, and the most loved, we think our HQ Grades will be a tremendous help compared to the often confusing, contradictory, or downright vague rating systems you'll find elsewhere.

Rankings Put Things in Perspective

Also new to our product pages is the HQ Ranking, a quick indicator of where a particular camcorder fits into its respective categories. This way, you can have a better idea of what you're getting, see how it fares against similar digital camcorders, and make a more informed decision. In some cases, if we feel that the camcorder you're looking at isn't totally up to snuff, we'll even direct you to the one that we think is best. In any case, a complete list of the grades and rankings is just a click away thanks to the HQ Ranking box, giving you everything you need to compare products and find an excellent camcorder.
