Cant play DVD from camcorder in DVD player or laptop

My laptop doesnt recognize the dvds made from on my DC230. Do I need a particular driver to see the videos on my laptop? I burnt the DVD in the "video" mode that my camcorder said should be readable by most DVD players. I have a toshiba DVD player and that doesnt recognize the DVD either.

The common mistake is failure to "finalize" the dvd disc. You need to plug your camera into the AC adapter, place the DVD back into the camera and then finalize it. Press the "Function" button, select "Disc Operations" and the "Finalize." Page 78 of your manual.

In addition: You'll get best results by using discs recommended by Canon for this model. They inlcude the Hitachi-Maxell HG series DVD discs; and with duallayered discs using Canon DVD-R DL54 discs and Verbatim DVD-R DL discs.

Hey James, that helped....but a small part of one of my discs has gotten corrupted before finalizing. Is there any way to finalize those segments that havent been corrupted?

Sorry to pass the buck, but I'd have to refer you to a Canon rep for that answer.
