how do you know when its fully charged? (Can it be overcharged?)

I left my Elura 80 charging overnight and in the morning the battery was unusable and had to be replaced.(Why?)

Page 13 of your manual states that the charge indicator light starts (to the left of the battery) flashing when you start charging and glows steadily when charging is complete.

How old was the battery? LiOn batteries do lose their charge over time, especially in extreme temperatures. And if your battery is old, it just may be coincidence that it died when it did. ALso, if it's a third party battery you may be dealing with poor battery construction or even coutnerfeits which may also be dangerous.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I downloaded the manual, but it has nothing about the charger. Maybe I downloaded the wrong one. All mine has is all of its features. It was bought third party so I gather it was just the batterys time.

Yeah, there are several options for download there. Sometimes there's even a more advanced manual.

You want to be careful with third party chargers as they may kill the battery. Make sure they match power needs before you charge. And beware of counterfeit batteries as well.

No....the charger and camera came together....just no manual. but the new battery is working great!! I was just worried that maybe you can't OVER charge them(Elura 80). Some items you can leave things on charge for any length of time, and some you can't. Thanks again James, you have been a great help. I'm new with these cams, so I'm sure you will be hearing from me again(&again..LOL).

No manual? Was this a new one? If so you may have been saddled with something that is considered"grey market" merchandise. This is typically indicative when the camera is missing the manual, warranty card, and other important accessories

If something is gray market, it means that - although you may have gotten a great deal on it - it doesn't come with a warranty that will be honored here in this country. Which means if something goes wrong with the camera, you'll either have to send it to the coutry of manufacture to repair or pay to have it fixed yourself.

Then again, if this was a used camera purchase, then the warranty isn't in force anyway.
