GL 2 Blues
( - 3/6/06)I bought a GL 2 the first week in November of 2005. So far I've shot zero feet of usable footage. Out of the box, my camera exhibited mosaic degradation on any object not centered in the focus plane. After being refused a return RMA from the dealer, I shipped it to Canon's Irvine California repair facility. Two weeks later, I received it back with a repair order stating a head cleaning and alignment had been done. With 30 seconds of operation it was apparent the original problem still existed and was actually worse. 2nd trip to Irvine,I included a tape to demonstrate problem. Returned with same problem with repair order that stated LCD and viewfinder were fine. What are these guys doing during lunch? Well, here we are in the first week in March and I'm sitting here waiting for the return of my "Professional Quality" camera. I could have bought a refurbished GL2 for $700 less than what I paid. I'd say three trips to the shop might qualify it as refurbished but Canon refuses to exchange or refund my purchase price for this Gl2. If you're looking for a quality camcorder with reasonable factory service and responsibility to their customers, look else where.
