What mics would you recommend for MA300 XLR adapters?

I want to put an MA300 adapter on my canon GL2 for more professional sound but am confused about what microphones are compatible. I understand no phantom power with MA300. What are my options? Thanks,

Ed Space

According to Canon, the only real requirement is the mic must have an XLR connection. My recommendation to you is to pick up a recent copy of the Videomaker Microphone Buyer's Guide. You'll have a great matrix of the best microphone's out there on the market and it will help you decide what mic is best for you at your budget.

A plethora of info here—still sorting through it. Having trouble identifying (using specs) which ones have XLR connection. So far I like Azden SGMX—What do you think, James? Perhaps a word about my level of expertise; you're talking to a Geezer whose photo career goes back to wet photography, morphed into Digital era, but audio is a new challenge. Thanks again. Ed

I think as long as the mic is XLR compatible and sounds decently, that you'll do just fine. The thing is, there are many options out there and often times, what's more expensive, doesn't always yield a better quality sound. If Videomaker gives it high marks, I say you're good to go.

After reading Videomaker test revues, I went with the Azden SGM-1X for my MA300—Thanks again James, for a good source of Video info. Ed Space
