I have a mac Powerpc g5 hooked up to the hv20 via firewire. Camcorders screen says Playback std locked playback restriced. help

I have a mac Powerpc g5 hooked up to the hv20 via firewire. I know this firewire works as I use a sony deck to transfer tape to disk with it. I have configured final cutpro to acknowledge the camcorder and when i choose to log and capture the camcorder runs the tape and the message on the camcorders screen says Playback std locked playback restriced. No content plays on the capture screen in final cut and just the above message appears on the camcorder screen. can someone help me?

I don't think your issue is related to cabling.

Was this the tape shot with this camcorder, or are you trying to capture tape made with another camcorder? HV20 will not recognize SD LP recordings.

The tape is a 63 minute Mini DV Panasonic DVC for HD cameras. All footage shot in full resolution HD widescreen in the HV20.

Also the tape was not shot in LP

Just curious. ARe you having the same issues with iMovie HD? If so, then I would be thinking hardware. If not, then chances are it's your Final Cut Pro configuration that's giving you fits.

It turns out that the final cut pro needs to be set through easy setup as hdv10801 60 frames and the device is set at the same. After setting up the final cut pro, make sure that the camera is set up as hdv/dv playback. After all of that start a new project or sequence to allow final cut to make settings stick for camera. If done properly the camera will allow final cut pro to capture all video in full reolution HDV wide screen. Also it is possible for the Power PC g5 to get this done. This is in conflict with many people that say that only the power macs with the intel processor can capture from this camera.

I am trying to view a tape I shot on my CanonHV20 in DV mode. The camera is in HDV mode and the option to change the playback std is not available (greyed out.) Why is this?
