What connector(s) do I need to connect Canon HV20 to PowerMac G5 in order to access video for editing?

Help! I just bought a Canon HV20 for video recording (I don't even intend to use it for stills) and just realized that the correct cable to connect my video camera to my Dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5. I don't even know if I have the proper connector on my computer. Any help will be appreciated! I am technically ignorant, so bear that in mind when recommending a cable...

Thanks!!

You can use either firewire. It may take USB if you have Leopard. But I haven't confirmed that. You may also try HDMI if your MAC has that connection.

Thanks! I actually found the answer at the Apple store in about 2 minutes before I got yours -- just needed a certain firewire cable -- by the way, the USB port will NOT work for video with this camera -- only for stills. Thanks for your help! This is a great forum.

Well, I can tell you that iMovie has one of the best capture utilities going. Although the latest 08 version has been dumbed down tremendously. So much so that Apple offers iMovie 06 as a free download for iLife 08 users who don't care for the new version.

But with iMovie, you can get a simpler and better capture utility and you already have it.

Just want to add: USB cable should work. Not just for still pictures, but if you have iMovie, that's all you need to import HD video from the HG21. It works like a charm.
