Why Won't My Mac, Recognize My hV-20?

I Have Been online for HOURS, trying to figure out why, my mac won't recognize my HV-20. its not the firwire port cause i can plugin my external harddrives. So anybody got any suggestion? It worked just fine yesterday!!!
My laptop is an 2 ghz intelcore duo

Was there a software update between the last time you used it and now? It may be that a software update "broke" the connectivity. What I would do is connect the camera to another PC to verify if it recognizes the camera. If it does, then you've eliminated the HV20 as the culprit and it may point to a failure of other the hardware or software. Either way you're looking at a call to Cupertino.

The FCE 4.0.1, software is up to date, i have two diffrent firwire camcorder cables, so i know that its not the cables, right now i don't have another cpu, to test it that way, so....i just stuck. theres has to be something that i can do cause, on wedensday it worked like a charm???

Have you tried the black magic that is "repairing permissions?" Just a thought.

Another thought is to reset your camera back to factory default settings. It may be that you changed a setting which mucked up the stream. And sometimes, firmware can get corrupted when loading. It happens.
