Question about long mts file recording

If I were to let the hf100 record continuously for 2 hours, 17mbps on a 16g sd card, will there be only one huge m2ts file or several smaller ones?

I believe the camera breaks it up into several smaller ones. But I'm not 100% sure of that. My experience though, has been that with similar cameras, the files were broken up in smaller bites due to the firmware.

If it's broken up into several smaller files, it's easy to join it up again but will there be any glitches/missing frames/muted audio at the joins?

I don't think so. Since you'll be uploading the footage directly and not capturing, the dropped frames concern isn't an issue. As for the rest, depends on your skills as an editor. But I'd say largely it's not worth worrying about.
