1080i. But you can save hard drive space by importing the clips into your editor at 540p, you'll get 90% of the quality for half the drive space.

Well, the 5D Mk. II Digital SLR shoots 1080p video and the results are simply stunning. Course, at $2500 for the body, it had better be! Canon also announced today that EOS Rebel T1IS which also shoots 1080p, but for under $1000. That's where everything is going, it seems - the convergence of still photos and digital video.

hi guys... I've read so many people saying 720p is better than 1080i (which I just found out the HF20 records at 1080i and NOT 1080p).

I'm so disappointed since I found out that for 6 months I might have been taping my 6-month-old daughter at 1080i and not 1080p.

Is 720p really better that 1080i?

Would I be better off buying a Nikon D90 for the 720p? Or a new Canon T1i which records at 720p + 1080p (20fps for the latter)?

Thanks... :(
