CCD problem...
( - 10/24/05)Have the same problem with black screen during recording. Bought this one for its reasonable price (buy on-line, it's cheaper),for its features and for the brand name. Didn't expect it to have this problem but called Canon about it and they will fix it for free including S&H.
Canon's website tells you that they've been getting similar complaints, hence the free repair. It's just their way of telling us they messed up and will fix the problem for free.
