Canon Replaced CCD At No Charge
( - 11/1/05)I had the same CCD problem that others above have experienced but Canon recently replaced the chip at no charge. I read an article by the Associated Press today that Sony has acknowledged a defective chip (manufactured Oct. 2002 to Mar 2004). This chip was used in more than 80 models, including the Canon line of camcorders. The defect in the chip apparently occurs under hot or humid conditions. Check with Canon if you're experiencing CCD problems.
