Editors' Comments

Like its big brothers the ZR950 and ZR930, the Canon ZR900 is a basic, entry-level digital camcorder. It pairs widescreen 16:9 MiniDV recording with a stabilized 48x advanced zoom lens to produce a straightforward and usable beginner's camera. The camera explicitly caters to beginners with an "Easy Mode" that lets the camera choose the best possible settings for your current situation. Its large LCD screen swings 90 degrees horizontally, and rotates 270 degrees vertically, meaning you can always find a comfortable viewing angle. A microphone terminal makes the ZR900 ideal for educators who need to directly record audio. In all, this is a fine and inexpensive choice for someone just getting started with videography.
