Unbiased camcorder reviews, advice, and prices

Camcorders that record directly to DVD

DVD camcorders are very popular as an alternative to MiniDV tapes—finally, no rewinding or fast-forwarding required. DVD is right for you if you usually take shorter videos, generally don't edit them, and like the appeal of being able to pop the DVD out of your camcorder and watch right away. DVD camcorders can't record as long as MiniDV, but you can always pop another inexpensive disk in when the first fills up. Note that these camcorders use the smaller 8cm DVD format; they fit and play in most camcorders and computers, but are just smaller.
