On the JVC site, it does say the camera is fully compatible with Windows Vista. Make sure you have everything connected and installed correctly. Here are some online video tutorials from JVC:

Also, make sure you have the drivers installed from the CD that JVC gave you. I looked for the drivers online, but was not able to find them from an official site. If you wanted to, its possible to download them from many third parties. If this doesn't work try using a video program such as Adobe premiere to capture the video from the camcorder. (You can download a free trial of Adobe Premiere from the Adobe site). Hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Thank you for the answer. All that advice is fine and dandy, but here is where the problem lies..the driver won't down losd from the cd that I got with the camera. I think I'll just go back to XP it was much simpler and easier to handle

What you may want to do is try downloading the drivers directly from JVCs website. The advantage of this is, you'll have the most recent driver, as opposed to the CD which has only the most recent version at the time the CD was pressed.

Also, now that Vista SP1 has been officially released, you may want to try and install that first before you downgrade. But if you do, you're not alone. Users have been going back to XP in droves.
