The JVC GR-D850 is a midrange MiniDV camcorder with a respectable feature set including a 35x optical zoom lens, advanced noise reduction, and a special night shooting mode that boosts light sensitivity for shooting in the dark. Its 680,000-pixel sensor is a bit below standard, but nevertheless produces great images. A widescreen 2.7-inch LCD is the only available framing option (no viewfinder), but is bright and clear. Simple to use, this is a very good introduction to digital camcorders.
