Canon HFS10 from $999.00	The Canon Vixia HFS10 is the pinnacle of Canon's HD offerings for 2009. The XR500V can also shoot 12-megapixel still photos, as well, making it a very versatile camera in addition to its video capabilities.

The HS300 is a serious camcorder meant for serious users, so novice and casual shoppers may want to look elsewhere (as if the price tag hadn't already scared them off). The HS300 is a full HD video camcorder and 10-megapixel still camera, and contains enough features and settings to keep even knowledgeable folks busy learning the ins and outs of the device.
