When I watch video playback there are big blue horizontal lines across the screen. What causes this?

I've had the camcorder for more than a year and used it a lot.

If you are watching it during cue and review playback, this is supposedly normal. Is this where you're seeing it? Or is it on a finished tape viewed on playback over a TV set?

i am having the same problem. I bought the camcorder used and it's done it since i got it. from my investigation, it seems to happen at around the same times on the tape.. which seems to indicate it's a problem that occurs at a specific place in the tape, not just randomly or because of the playback head orientation.
I've not tried cleaning the heads, but thats my first step.
I'll post back with more info.
does anyone else have any other input to offer on the potential problem? Thanks.

Head cleaner did the trick. I recommend the one that radio shack offers with small fibers. Didn't work exactly like the instructions said it would as the camcorder would not recognize the tape, but a few passes turning it on and off did the trick.
