Panasoinic camcorder PV-GS50

Dear All..
I have a Panasonic DV camcorder PV-GS 50, and don't wanna get a new one. recently
I've got a new laptop HP and can't connect it to my DV cam (coz of firewire cable)
I heard that something external case that can help firewire cable to USB and then
PC will capture the movie laptop. I would like to know is there anythnig ?what it
called? where can I buy this?

Have you checked with Panasonic for a driver update? It doesn't make much sense that Windows wouldn't see the USB connection if your laptop has a USB port. Although new versions of an OS can break connectivity from time to time. This may have happened to you.

But I believe that the GS50 has firewire capability through the DV plug. You just need a 6-4 pin firewire cable. However, there's nothing that takes a Firewire device adn connects it to a firewire port. The two technologies are not integrated, and it is not possible to connect either directly or through the use of a Firewire to USB adapter.

no update for that driver(Panasonic says)..but the other way I 'll try.. a bunch of thanks...
