An inexpensive and rugged entry into the world of camcorders, Panasonic's SDR-SW20 is a shockproof, waterproof standard resolution camera that is also lightweight and pretty stylish. Recording in either 4:3 or 16:9 format, the SDR-SW20's recording capacity is limited only by the size of the SD/SDHC cards used with it. Its most flashy trait is its ability to be used up to 5 feet underwater, in the rain, and in the snow. It is also shockproof, meaning it can be dropped from up to 4 feet without sustaining significant damage. It also starts up quickly, typically in under 0.6 seconds. This is a great choice for someone who plans to use their camera hard and who doesn't care about HD capability.
