Well, you're not alone in seeing issues with Vista and breaking applications and hardware with upgrades. The good news is that you can try using it in "compatibility mode." This will enable you to run XP virtually for any utility you need XP for.

You can also try "ripping" your dvd onto the hard drive using something like DVD Decrypter and then Videora to re-encode it into a more editable format.

At leats until Panasonic gets it's act together with new drivers. It's still a little early in the game for it though.

Well, to be fair, when OSX came out, it broke the compatibility of my video camera to the MAC. So Vista isn't alone in this. Sometimes, it's simply inevitable. My solution ended up being selling the camera on eBay and buying a more compatible model.

But time will tell if any firmware updates or driver updates will be released to solve the problem.

Hey Ram, I hope that you were able to figure this problem out, but if not, I have some tips. First, download the programs into Windows Vista like normal. Windows will tell you that it isn't compatible, but will give you the option to download anyway. Then go to this site: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/info/vista.html and look for your downloads. I think your camcorder is under the VDR-250 model, you will see your model when you click on the "Remarks" link. You should be able to update your software there. As far as the USB driver for the camcorder, just plug it in and let Windows figure it out. The driver on the disk wont work for Vista. Hope this helps you!
