JVC GR-D770 Comments & Questions (write your own!)
I've plugged it in with the use, but i can only get the things on the sd card, i cant write anything to it apart from stills
So how can i get the video off the cam onto my computer?
Any editor can capture. If you have a MAC, you can't do better than iMovie. Shamefully easy. If a PC, Windows Movie Maker is adequate to the task.
The best utility I have found for capturing is WinDV ( windv.mourek.cz/ ). It's free. And not only can you capture with it without dropping a frame, but thanks to the firewire interface, you can control your camcorder directly! That's the way I would do it. Then import it into your editor.
For more information on how to do this, you may want to spend some time at videohelp.com. You'll learn everything you need there and a whole lot more.
Its just usb i'm using, but it only comes up as a mass storage device, so it wont let me capture via movie maker or anything other program on windows
I read on another site that something that may work is to connect to the Mac in play mode on the camera and play a few seconds of the video to have the computer recognize the camera. Still hasn't work. If anyone has a link to drivers or any solutions I would very much appreciate any help.
Thank you!

Also, make sure you have the drivers installed from the CD that JVC gave you. I looked for the drivers online, but was not able to find them from an official site. If you wanted to, its possible to download them from many third parties. If this doesn't work try using a video program such as Adobe premiere to capture the video from the camcorder. (You can download a free trial of Adobe Premiere from the Adobe site). Hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Also, now that Vista SP1 has been officially released, you may want to try and install that first before you downgrade. But if you do, you're not alone. Users have been going back to XP in droves.
