The MG630 is a member of JVC's Everio G Series line of camcorders with hard disk drive storage. This model a 60GB built-in hard drive, along with a 1/6-inch CCD image sensor. Along with the other models in the G series, it features a Konica Minolta lens with 40x dynamic zoom.

How easy is this camera to connect to a Mac??? (peggyswingle — 02/28/2009)
I have a JVC MG155. it's a great camera but I cannot get it to transfer video to iMovie.

How easy (realy) is it to copy from the camcorder to a disk? (kringwagner — 04/09/2009)
I have read a couple of reviews about how difficult it is to transfer the data from the camcorder to a disk. Has anybody really done this and how hard was it?

Not really. The camera already records in MPEG2, so there's no transcoding required. I like to use NERO for authoring basic DVDs because it's pretty much drag and drop, name the buttons and hit "burn." JVC does have a "DVD Direct" one touch button option - which isn't so much one touch but seems rather easy. My experience though is that software released by camera makers is either terribly limited or very bloated. Either way you're better off with a third party solution like NERO.

I have had no luck with nero and my evario. It seems that they are not compatible. Am I missing something?

No, it isn't in the specs. The A-D pass through was a bridge technology and it's started to be phased out now that most people have a digital camera. Pinnacle makes a very good pass through interface based on the Dazzle platform. Very affordable. That's where I'd look.

I just sold my Everio GZ-MG155 because the software didn't work with mac. I didn't feel like paying an additional $60 to get the compatible software. Plus, the camera rarely worked properly for me. I hope your camera at least turns on like it's supposed to.

That's been a common problem with JVC for awhile now. I ended up doing the same when upgrading to OSX way back when.
