Editors' Comments
The Sony DCR-TRV22 is a competent compact camcorder with features that should appeal to casual moviemakers. Critics hail the TRV22's small size and video quality, though some note the camcorder's overly-sensitive microphone and glare-prone LCD screen as drawbacks.

I need this for either vista or xp!
if so please email me: zaytevi@gmail.com
I found it here for $30...did anyone find it for free?
As a Sony brand-loyal customer, it seems unfair to have to pay for a software that was part of the package and I paid premium price for that.

It must be frustrating when things just don't work the way you want. I don't know what it is about Sony, they always have to make everything difficult in there own Sony way. Sony's compatibility with third party products makes it real tough for consumers like yourself.
I need to clarify your question first. When you say images do you mean still images or video images. Still images from cameras are downloaded through USB, and Video is usually downloaded through (1394)firewire to your PC.
Camcorder manufactures normally include video software that is very basic and useless at the same time. Even though you now have a firewire port, it can still be difficult working with video on your PC if you don't have the proper software for video conversions to make DVDs or movie CD's.
You mentioned CD and not DVD. Are you trying to burn photos on a CD or movies on a CD. If you don't have any photo software, you should be able to download jpeg images from your camcorder memory card on to your hard drive then to your CD burner using your CD Burner software. If you are trying to burn video on to a CD, you need to first convert the file format to QuickTime, or Media player, etc. To maintain high quality you should burn your video to DVD. The DVD file formats hold much more data information that produces higher quality than video files on a CD.
Since I do not know all the details to your issues, its difficult to pinpoint the problem. One thing for sure, I would look into some video editing and file format conversion software that will make downloading, editing and burning DVDs and CDs from your camcorder allot easier.
Here is some software that I would recommend that can solve allot of issues and alllow you to get creative at the same time of making some cool movies with audio sound/music effects.

Happy Movie Making!
1. Turn off the camcorder.
2. Remove the battery pack.
3. Disconnect AC power adapter.
4. Move the power switch to the CAMERA position for 15 seconds.
5. Move the power switch to the OFF position.
6. Reconnect the AC power adapter or reinsert the battery.
7. Turn on the camcorder.
This may help. Otherwise, it may be due to be serviced. Especially if it's heavily used.
If you are using a Mac computer, then the Sony is not compatible.
If you are using a PC based computer, you can use a USB connection, but you need a video/movie editing software to download your video footage to your computer.

Have you tried reading the User's Manual? Sometimes they write valuable stuff in the manual. For example, most (all?) digital camcorders use Firewire (a.k.a iLink a.k.a. IEEE 1394) connection for videos, while USB connection is used for still photos only.

I was able to capture the images (Video) but I can not hear the Audio part of the Video.
Obviously, I am not able to captue the sound. (Audio)
That's the way I would do it. Then import it into your editor.
Lastly, make sure your audio mix is set to ST1 in the menu settings (pg. 178 of the user guide).

However, the best utility I have found for this purpose is WinDV ( windv.mourek.cz/ ). It's free. And not only can you capture with it without dropping a frame, but thanks to the firewire interface, you can control your camcorder directly!
That's the way I would do it. Then import it into your editor. And for that, Adobe Premiere Elements 7 is the best $80 you'll spend.
But there may also be a setting in the setup menu which will disable the time out function.
1. Install the USB Streaming driver on the computer from the CD provided with the camcorder.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Plug the AC power adapter for the camcorder into a working electrical outlet and then connect it to the camcorder.
4. Connect the supplied USB cable to the camcorder and computer.
5. Turn on the camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the CAMERA position.
6. In the camcorder menu, set the USB STREAMING option to ON .
7. On the computer, start the webcam software.
If that doesn't work, then your camera doesn't support what you're trying to do. According to SONY, some models have an automatic demonstration mode that will activate after 5 minutes if the camera is turned on but not recording or playing a tape. Which sounds similar to what you're dealing with.
