The Sony Handycam HDR-XR200V preserves video in 1920x1080 high definition, plus still photos at 4 megapixels. This compact camcorder has a built-in 120GB hard disk drive for storage, and a GPS receiver that displays your current location and helps you remember where your video was shot. HDD Smart Protection works to preserve your video even if the camcorder is dropped or damaged. A professional quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T-lens uses advanced optics for the best image quality; the "T" coating reduces glare and lens flare. This camcorder features a 15x optical/ 180x digital zoom, a 2.7-inch rotating touch LCD display, Optical Steady Shot image stabilization, and a 1/5-inch xmor CMOS sensor with ClearVid array, which combines with the BIONZ image processor for bright, crisp images and videos.

Out of the box this camera comes set at its 2nd lowest (out of 4) HD settings. Once you go through the menu and set it to the highest setting (16mbps) and change to max color (x.y.whatever) it looks amazing! The smile capture is a neat and works well. Planning to get a wide angle lens. Other than that its more than I ever needed as far as quality and ease of use. You wont regret this purchase.
