What is the difference between the 1GB model and the 2GB model which gives such a drastic difference in D+ and A- grades?

Grades can be fairly deceptive. As they can get skewed by becoming older on the popularity list or even as a result of few reviews in which one or two can point in a direction that isn't really indicative. If you look at older cameras, they tend to peak with letter grades and then over time being to drop in grade in favor or newer models. A better barometer is user reviews (I'd just toss the best and worst to get a more accurate depiction of user experience).

The short answer is, more storage space equals better performance. But the reality is there are newer Flips (the HD Flip Minot, for instance) and the Kodak ZI6.
