how do i record in black and white with my cannon hd20?

Well, with video editing, you can you strip the color and make it black and white through an effects filter. That's the easiest way since most don't have black/white filming options.

Thanks for your reply, and that does help, however I did figure out how to get the camara to record black and white last night after a couple of hours of figiting with the function and joy stick buttons.

Well, there you go. Just remember though, that doing it in software allows you to "undo" if you don't like it.
