Use of memory card

I like to capture single frames from my video and use them in scrapbooking etc. Will the memory card be a much clearer picture versus tape or dvd?

It will not be any clearer but is as good. I use both and use the single frames as well for geneology and scrap books, and consider them equal.....

With the HD1A you can also take stills while you video (which will give a MUCH higher resolution than a still from the video), though as I have found, doing so causes your video to stall for 2 seconds while the image is written to memory.

Additionally, you can also extract a still from video on the camera itself when editing.
