Editing?

How easy is it to edit footage from this camera in Adobe Premeire Pro (PC) and Final Cut Pro (mac)?

According to the specs, Sanyo's dock uses USB to interface with a PC. It does say it's MAC compatible, but I don't see any way you can capture via FIREWIRE, which is typically the manner by which Mac uses for video capture.

PC, however, shouldn't be a problem. Downside though, is that the HD1A does record in MPEG4, which though a great format, does compress your footage as it goes. So, when editing, you end up compressing footage that is already compressed. Not the best to go about things.

Except for the speed of my poor old iMac, I didnt have any problems using iMovie or FinalCut to edit my footage. But I still am trying to get Premiere to read a MPEG4 file. For the PC you need to convert the MPEG4 to something readable which I havent found a good method, yet.

You have to repack the mp4 to an avi container (without recompression) using the tool mp4cam2avi. Fast and simple.
Afterwards you can "easily" edit the videos in Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus, Sony Vegas, MS Movie Maker, ....

Good idea, puper. But the issue still is that with MPEG4, the video footage is still drastically compressed and will be compressed further once the editing if finished. I'd rather start with uncompressed footage and go from there.
