What editing software should I use with my Sony DVD camcorder?

I have a Sony DCR-DVD403 camcorder and am looking for editing software to use with it. I do not need anything fancy (although I am not opposed to cool features either)...I just want to be able to download several 30 min. mini dvds onto one larger dvd. Our computer (Dell Dimension with Windows XP Media Center) has a dvd burner (and is able to read the mini dvds in another drive as well.) I have heard that there can be software compatibility issues. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I would consider Adobe Premiere Elements. It's a good basic editing software which has a few whistles and bells, all for under $99.00. Great feature is that it can incorporate up to 99 video and audio tracks. That alone is worth the money. Great interface.

However, you have a DVD camcorder. When editing footage from it, consider that it records in MPEG2 - which is a compressed digital signal. Taking that footage, editing it, and the reburning it onto DVD will recompress that footage further. And that doesn't make for an optimal video eperience.

If you aren't concerned with editing, it may be easier to simply take DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink, rip the smaller DVDs and then reburn them using NERO or some other burning software.
