Sony sr80 to imovie 08 using streamclip+quicktime component? Is this possible?

With MPEG streamclip + the quicktime component, I was able to get my clips onto an OLD version of imovie by converting them all to DV. But this isn't working now that I have the new imovie 08. What should I do? Should I convert it into something else??? I don't know very much about this but I didn't ever have any trouble editing my little movies until I got ilife08. I still have access to the old imovie, since i stored it on an external drive, but the subtitles things in the new imovie are way better and I want to use them. The clips are all on my computer, but they just won't go into the new imovie. Help!!!

Go back to iMovie 06. The 08 version is so bad, that Apple immediately began to offer 06 as a download to disappointed iMovie 08 owners.
