Which one is producing better quality video image sony DCR-SR80 or any Sony digital 8?

Do you think Sony hard-drive camcorders are producing better video image than Sony digital 8,for example Sony DCR-TRV280. Which will last longer before it's break down. confused!!

Well, the answer is yes, and no. Yes, better image. No, because it records in MPEG2 and as such, is compressed and in order to edit, you end up jumping through hoops to re-encode the footage to cut it and then re-compressing it to burn to dvd.

Why no love for miniDV? Much better than digital 8 and records uncompressed digital footage.
