How can I get video to transfer from my TRV33 to a windows vista programed computer?

My computer won't read the Imagemixer CD that came with my camera, and I can't download the imagemixer updates without having the original on my computer. I have window DVD maker and media player.

So you can't even install the software? Can you see the disc in the drive when you put it in? If so, you may want to try installing it in "compatibility mode." Right click on the setup.exe file and then click on the compatibility tab. Then select Windows XP and hit okay. Then see if it installs. If it does, then you'll need to open the software in compatibility mode as well. Right click on the program icon, select compatibility, and then select the XP. It's run in virtual XP, imho.

But in the end, you may not be able to use it. Sometimes, new OS versions can break the connectivity between an older camera and the OS. Happened to me and OSX when I had my mac. I had to sell it and by a new one that did. Proved a blessing in disguise.

Thnaks for trying. This is what I found out from SOny. I have to buy a firewire to connect the camcorder. They say it will be recognised then (I'll soon find out). If Vista can then recognise my camcorder I can download my video with media center and don't need the imagemixer. Saw someone on this site last night had recommended buying different editing software too.

You have a vista computer and it doesn't have firewire? That's a tad odd. But firewire cards are cheap, so that won't be a problem. Unless they're referring to a cable and not a card. That would make more sense. But don't pay more than $15 for it. You can get them pretty cheap on line.

The problem is not with either USB or Firewire it's the stupid driver. I have the same camera and it says right on the Sony website that it's not compatible with Streaming to Vista. It is with XP but not vista. So trying different software or trying a different connection method ie. firewire won't help. It's another wonderful Sony product (NOT). Next time I won't buy another crappy Sony product. My folks made the mistake of buying one of their desktop systems a few years ago and that too was bad news. Guess I learned the expensive way a few years ago not to buy Sony anymore. If they weren't so proprietary and would support upgrades as Windows evolves it would be one thing but this is a joke.
