Thank you BSOD writer!
( - 3/6/06)My camera has seen a lot of use, including documenting my day-to-day business. I've just started to experience an occasional problem when I turn on the camera. It appears hazy and greenish, but I found if I turn it upside down and smack it it clears up. I know that won't last for long, so thank you to the reviewer who described the recall. I also am receiving a UPS label and work order for repair!
Otherwise this camera has proved very versatile. I've used frame grabs for publishing with news articles, so picture quality is up there. The large screen is great to work with. Mini DV carries much more information about each frame than DVD camcorders do. Another feature I like is the "color slow shutter" which allows you to shoot normal color by moonlight IF you can hold still and your subject isn't moving too fast. I shot the Northern Lights with this camera!
The only complaint I have about Sony camcorders is the vertical streaking you get from bright lights in the field of view. Takes work to minimize it.
I hope mine comes back in good shape for more years of use! Good luck to you!
