Do HDMI cables deliver a better picture the component cables

Component cables came with my camcorder. I bought some HDMI, but have not tried them yet, thinking I might return them. It is a high def camcorder, and I get a very good picture on my high def tv going staight from my camcorder to the tv. Would I gain anything with HDMI cables other the 1 connection instead of 5.

Chiefly, your HDMI cables are digital, while the component are analog. If you have a digital camera and digital HDTV, it's rather pointless to lose your advantage by relying on analog cables.
