where is the serial number?

The serial number on camcorders are usually placed on the camcorder body where your battery is. Take your battery off the camcorder, then you should see the serial number underneath on the camcorder.

Have you checked on the camcorder where the battery attaches.

Also, check your manual.

Model name and serial number are located on the sticker attached to the bottom of the camcorder.

The above link doesnt work.
Moreover, Model name and serial number are NOT located on the sticker attached to the bottom of HDR-SR1.

I was once a SONY fan. These days I pitty SONY, and this is going to be one more reason.

I have a qMasters in EE and I write this after spending 15 mins searching for serial #.

Having the same problem. My camcorder was stolen and I need to report the serial number to the police. On the box there are 5 different barcodes with numbers. It is unclear which one of them is the S/N. Moreover there is a label on the box that says "Overbox Serial-Num YES", which probably means that the serial number is somewhere on the box.

If the Sony website would make clear how many digits a serial number has or what its general format is, this would help.

LVB: Same thing here. My Sony HDR-SR5 was stolen. There's a bunch of numbers on the box, not sure which is the serial number... Hmmmmm

i have the same problem with a canon vixia HF200 i cant find the serial number anywer
