Mini HDMI cables are rather new, so I'm researching your manual. Page 48 of your manual outlines the procedure to connect your camcorder to an HD TV. First you access the HOME menu on your camcorder. Then press [SELECT DEVICES] and then [TV CONNECT GUIDE]. Choose HD. Connect your HDMI cable to your HDTV port.

But I think you may need a conventional HDMI cable as the manual makes no mention of a miniHDMI jack. So you may need an adapter.

I have a conventional HDMI to DVI cable. Would a regular HDMI end fit on one side of the adapter with the DVI adapter connected to my HDTV, with the mini HDMI connected to the camcorder and a conventional HDMI connected to the other side of the adapter?

Well that's how it seems to be presented in the manual. Did you buy the cable separately? I'd check your manual for the proper connections. You could also take the camera with you to make sure you get the proper connection.
