How do I get the footage recorded off of my handycam?

I've tried 2 things to record the memory off to dvds (it took a whole year to get it full of video of our daughter on the cam and now can't find a solution.), I've tried the disk program it came with that you download to your computer(didn't work) and then bought a $200 sony dvd burner, hoping something will give. When I hook the two up together, the sony dvd burner says 9-9 disks to burn and then the prosess is complete after about a couple of hours rejecting the disks out and new ones in. The disks that it says that are burned are not playable on any dvd player I use. I record them onto dvd-r and dvd+r. What am I doing wrong?

This is odd, I've never known the Sony burners not to work for the Sony camcorders. First of all, try installing all of the drivers to your camcorder (or reinstalling them) from the Sony site. You should be able to go to sonystyle.com and find them. Second, go to the adobe.com site, and download the free trial of adobe premiere. Then use Adobe Premiere to try and upload the video, it could be the format of the video that you've recorded, but Premiere should deal with just about all of them, especially that from Sony. Also, if the camcorder has a connect to computer switch on it, make sure that is set accordingly. Try this, and let us know if it works, then we can go from there.

my first suspicion is the brand of discs you're using. You can head over to videohelp.com and check under compatibility to see what success others have had with various brands, but to be sure it's probably best to only use those recommended by SONY.
