Do you need HDMI connection to get true HD picture onto TV from camera's recordings?

To watch HD cable channels the picture is so much clearer using the HDMI cable vs componet cables. Is this the same case with recordings made on Cannon HV10?

You don't necessarily have to spend 90 bucks on cables. If you look around town for video suppliers, you can find companies that can make you cables for half that. They usually cater to the professional market but will take the consumer business as well.

There are quality HDMI cables online that you can get for less than $5 [e.g., HDMI Cable male to male 28AWG - 6ft w/Ferrite Cores (Gold Plated)]. No need to pay top $ for pretty cables.
