How good is the still photo quality of the HDR-XR520V?

According to Sony, the XR520V can take 12 megapixel stills. Most camcorders have bad still photos, but this is a very high end camcorder, so I'd expect better performance.

In the still mode,does this v.high end camcorder(at least price wise!)provide flexible manual adjustments/controls as compared to 12Mpixel dedicated digital cameras?.

The CIS is 6 million plus pixels only thus the image is interpolated like what you did with Photoshop. I see fundamental difference with a usual digital camera of 10 million pixels such as Panasonic DMC-ZS3. I have(use) both of them!
