Picture Utility cannot detect camcorder

Trying to install sony picture utility and the software says it cannot detect the camcorder. Yet the pc is seeing the device no problem and I have been able to copy the files across. If I could find editing software to open .cpi files I wouldn't bother with Picture Utility. Any ideas welcome.

MPEG Streamclip should be able to convert it for you.
