An intermediate's dream camera
(Neil Bruce - 9/22/08)I've now taken over a thousand pictures, and I've explored most features of the camera except live view.
Despite its small size, the camera is great. I've equipped it with an EFS 55-250 lens, and I am having a ball. The camera is easy and fun to use, and I am taking stunning pictures with it. The creative zone settings allow you to do practically anything a pro camera can do.
I wanted to buy a full frame camera but couldn't afford it. Although the 1.6 crop frame is only 60% FF, the price of this camera is about a tenth that of a FF camera. Seems like a good deal. I just mentally adjust the focal length.
Really fast shutter—up to 1/4000—is awesome for sports. I'm also impressed by its low light capabilities. I've used ISO 1600 in low light with image stabilized lens and got amazingly sharp pictures with little noise.
The 12 megapixel CMOS sensor has let me make great enlargements.
One tip—skip all Canon accessories except lenses. They are overpriced.
