A DSLR Beginner Can't Go Wrong With The XSi
(Jeff - 2/3/09)This camera has a ton of features for the buck, many of which are handed down from Canon's higher end DSLR's. In many ways the XSi is like buying a higher end camera at a medium range price. It has the standard "Mountain, Flower, Woman's Head, Program, Auto, etcetera" modes but you can almost infinitely change ISO, aperature, exposure, White Balance, Picture Style, and so on to turn everyday pictures into photographs. The camera (using the camera control buttons and the 3 inch LCD screen) is able to print directly to certain printers bypassing the computer altogether. Or if you want, you can download the files to your computer and the accompanying software allows you to edit your images to your hearts content. In the two weeks I've had it I've taken dozens of shots. They blow away the best images I ever captured on any of my point and shoot cameras and, inch for inch, even exceed the quality of the images I used to put on film in my 35mm days. And I've only had it two weeks!!! This is not a camera that I will grow out of. On the contrary. This is a camera that will make me into a better photograper as I grow into it.
