Yes. It's also known as the Canon Digital Rebel XTi. The 40D is a step up, however.

That's a good move if you're just breaking into the DSLR photography. Take a class at a local community college and watch your picture taking get REAL good!

I am stuck between getting the Canon EOS 40D digital (body only) and the Canon EOS 5D digital SLR camera (body only) The later is about $400 more but I'm most concerned with which is the better camera. I travel alot and want to get excellent photos of wildlife, night time features, head shots and far away shots of things like monkeys in trees. (If anyone could suggest a good lense for either camera as well that would be greatly appriciated)
Thanks!!!!

Well, I think it comes down to just what you're going to do with it. Both are equally stellar. Unless you're one of those who must have the top of the line or are going to be shooting professionally, I think you can put that $400 to better use in another lens that can get you those far away shots. The performance specs are going to be similar for your usage. Get the 40D and a better lens, IMHO. And remember, for every lens you buy, get a 1A Sklight filter. Reason being? Insurance. They will take any impact damage and spare your lens. I can't tell you many times I have thrashed a 1A filter and saved my camera lens. It's well worth the $20 or so, believe me.

Their both dead even IMHO. Nikon and Canon are the two best players in the DSLR world. I think it will come down to which one you get the best deal on, but either one would make me a very happy photographer if I was just starting out.
