Rafael,

This camera does not work like a point and shoot with the LCD. You have to use the viewfinder to take the photos.

This camera is a true SLR so the image is reflected up into the viewfinder by a mirror. The mirror moves out of the way to allow the picture to be taken and only then can you see the image on the LCD because only then does light hit the sensor to generate the image.

RAFAEL,

This sounds dumb and kind of foolish, but I would first check and make sure that I took off the lens cover (speaking from vast experience), and if that doesn't help, make sure the batteries are placed in correctly.

Gil,

I own a XTi and know for a fact that you can't do what Rafael is trying to do. It's just the way the camera is set up.

rafael, only point and shoot cameras have viewing through the lcd monitor because the way DSLR's are built they cant use this feature. you must look though the viewfinder to figure out what you are taking a picture of

Michael,

Just as a follow-up, some newer dSLR's do have an option to view the photo through the LCD screen. This does slow down the reaction time (increases shutter lag) of the camera.
