I have used the 10D specifically for astrophotography on a 10" Meade telescope. It does well in astro, getting beautiful shots in 5-10 minutes. It's a little light on the reds due to the terrestrial IR filter, but the 20Da will address this problem.

As far as reliability... This camera has functioned in 20 below weather for hours (swapping the batteries of course). It's been dripping wet from dew. Never had a single problem with it.
