I got a lemon

I bought the camera about four years ago and after fourteen months the camera started failing giving me an "error 99" .I had to send it to Canon for repair and pay for it since the warranty had just expired. They did not fix it and just sent it back to me. It is a nuisance error since it only fails when I most need it. I am frustrated because I got other Canon equipment now that I am considering switching to Nikon.
