Canon 1D MK II n

(steve - 10/29/06)

who thought that a 10D would be my fall back.
i bought the 1DMKII n, just a couple of weeks ago when i was asked if i could do some photography for a presentation night.
In hand i took up the offer taking the new toy and 16-35L 2.8.
The location had very poor lighting and made it quite difficult for the flash (550EX) to get focus on the subjects.
After reviewing the images on the bigger screen the most noticeable update for me had been the start up time.
The change was like heating a pie in an oven vs microwave, or computers 286 vs P4 or Grandpa's trusty bomb vs Audi/Hold/Ford you get the Picture.
They all work but lets face it if you had to choose(Yawn)that's right you'd pick the later.
Being a semi pro, so my comments will most probably be watered down by those with a more academic proficiency.
So as a semi pro using the Pro gear i will tread carefully, not to show disrespect.
The manual to me is written in such a way that you need 20/20 vision font size must be 5, so its very hard to read.
Wat would most people do, stick the cd into the drive and read it from the PC.
i had a quick look on the cd and its contents but couldn't locate the manual.
I hear you, so i downloaded the PDF and printed it out.
The idea of reading it soon outweighed the amount of paper it was written on.
One hundred and ninety six pages, to some that might be ok.
Getting back to the presentation night, my only gripe had been the ability to get good light,(not saying it was dark) but it was a soft light.
The flash mount had been moved forward backwards and so on to try and get good light.
To me it felt that the combination could have been more thought out.
After viewing the images on the PC their had been times the light was good then too much and too Little.
keeping that in mind i took some pictures in normal daylight with 16-35 and 70-200 2.8 and they came out spot on.
Would i buy it again or the question is would you invest in Canon i would say.........?
I've spent a lot of $$$$ on Canon gear and i would have to say YES.

so that's my 1 minute up.

steve
so th ats my 2 minutes on
