I have the canon rebel xt dslr. I want to be able to take pictures and be able to see immediately on my laptop. Not download

I don't want to download, I do this with a card reader. I am taking pictures at a banquet (Ball) and I want to be able to see the picture so that I can assign the picture to the people. I know how to do this with a T.V., but I don't want to take a T.V. with me. I will need my laptop anyway, and I have seen this done before, I just don't know how. I have the USB cord that came with the camera, and installed the disk that came with camera, but it won't do anything. Camera just says "busy". any help out there???

Was it a Rebel XT that you have seen this done with? I have seen it done with a Canon 1D and specially installed software, but not the former. Unless you want to download, the TV may be your only option.

You are thinnking of using the AV port to examine pictures. Most of the laptops I have seen do not have a video input port. Its only use would be to watch video output from your VCR or the camers.

In addition to the AV port, the !D/1Ds series can allow the computer to take control of the camera and shoot with an immeditate download via firewire (MUCH faster than USB) or WiFi. The lower-end cameras tend to lack such sophisticated features.
