EOS 5D: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos5d/page32.asp. Good camera.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/read_opinions.asp?prodkey=canon_eos1dsmkiii. Reviews from owners of the camera (-1 review). You can also see owner review of the EOS 40D here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/read_opinions.asp?prodkey=canon_eos40d.

When looking at the overall ratings (B- in this case, as I write this), you have to read the reviews themselves. Any website you go to, you have idiots who will rate things at the absolute bottom. Take those reviews out and rerate the camera.

Even amazon gave the Mk. II 5/5 stars. Reviews unfortunately don't tell you everything. Nor are they sometimes even accurate. :-/

Are there no ratings by professionals on this camera? 4 thousand plus is pretty high price for an 18 out of 40 rating.

Number 1 camera is generally objective, but it's based on qualifying criteria. Is it #1 based on the $3K-$4K range? Or MP range? Etc. If you have specifics you'd like to know about, I can try to find what looks to be the #1 camera for them.

And trust me, the Canon EOS 1D MK III isn't going to get an 18/40 rating :) The only debate with this camera is if the price warrants a purchase. And to me, that's the customer's decision. To me, it isn't, because I'd have an extremely difficult time seeing a picture quality improvement between, say, the Canon EOS 400D costing $600 and the Canon EOS 1D MK III costing several thousand! Especially in RAW mode, the quality difference wouldn't warrant the purchase. However, I also don't enlarge my pictures beyond 8x10" (and even that is rare), so for people who are professional, know how to use the cameras and make beautiful pictures by subjecting a picture to their distinct personality twists, and blows the picture up to posterboard size, the expensive camera is worth it. To each his own :)
